Deals totaled roughly US$3.5billion in January 2016 with the real estate sector recording the most activity, as covered in Total Transaction Record’s Monthly Mexico Report - January 2016.
In January 2016, Mexico registered a total of 16 deals in the M&A and venture capital markets (no IPOs or follow-on offerings took place), generating an aggregate value of approximately US$3.5 billion. Both the number of transactions and its aggregate value were lower in comparison to the number and value registered in January 2015, according to TTR’s Monthly Mexico Report - January 2016, produced with Merrill Corporation. Out of these 16 deals, two were large transactions in excess of US$ 500 million each. Two other deals came in at somewhere between US$100 million and US$500 million, while five small transactions amounted to less than US$100 million each. The deal value of the remaining seven transactions was not disclosed. Meanwhile, real estate—which topped the transaction charts in the prior two years—led as the most active sector, with activity up 300% compared to the same period in 2015.
