M&A activity for Asia Pacific and Japan reached US$58.4 billion in January 2016—a 59.5% decrease in value after coming off a record start in January 2015, which brought in deals totaling US$144.2 billion. Despite the decline, January 2016 was the third-biggest month on record for mergers and acquisitions in Asia Pacific and Japan.
