Merrill Corporation has partnered with Thomson Reuters to produce a monthly league table, which ranks the top M&A advisors in APAC, including Japan. This summary also provides insight into the biggest deals in the region for the month of May.
In May, Goldman Sachs retained its position as the top advisor, while M&A activity across the region reached US$92.3 billion. Deal value rose by 12.7% compared to last month’s numbers (US$81.9 billion). This brings overall M&A activity for 2016 year-to-date to US$517.9 billion, a 9.5% decline in deal value coming from last year’s year-to-date record volume (US$572.5 billion), despite a 3.1% increase in number of announced deals.
