Global M&A Volume Down, Value Up in May 2015

Monthly global deal value was up 14.5%, with volume down 8.5% since April 2015, according to Mergermarket's Monthly M&A Insider.

The value of global mergers and acquisitions announced in May 2015 rose 27.5% compared to May 2014 while the volume dropped 30.9%, according to Mergermarket's June 2015 Monthly M&A Insider, produced with Merrill Corporation. Higher valuations contributed to a decrease in deal volume to 984 transactions in May 2015, but megadeals increased overall deal values. The international technology, media and telecom sector led this growth with a 71.7% increase in deal value over the previous year, including a single telecom deal worth US$77.5 billion.
