Brazilian M&A Market Decreases 6% in May

The TTR Monthly Brazil Report - May 2016, sponsored by Merrill Corporation, is a result of local research and market analysis by TTR’s Research and Business Intelligence team.

The Brazilian M&A market showed a 6% decrease in the number of registered transactions so far in 2016, compared to the same period of 2015. In total, between January and May 363 transactions were carried out, moving BRL 61.9bn. In May, there was a decrease in the number of transactions as well: only 60 were registered, entailing a decrease of 5%, compared to the same period of 2015. Those 60 transactions moved BRL 9.53bn. Concerning acquisitions carried out by foreign companies in Brazil (inbound transactions), the market also registered a decrease in the number of transactions from US-based companies, some of the biggest foreign buyers of Brazil-based companies.
