Alvaro Ortega
Director of Sales for Iberia

Before joining Merrill Corporation in 2010, Alvaro Ortega brought 10 years’ experience in international financial markets, having worked for Putnam Investments and PNC Global Fund Services in the United States. In 2006, upon completion of his MBA from ESADE Business School, Alvaro moved to London and joined Bloomberg LP as an EMEA Data Solutions Sales Manager where he became a Global Key Accounts Sales Manager with Tier 1 Investment Banks.

Since joining Merrill Corporation, Alvaro has been responsible for the development of the Mediterranean region. During this period, Alvaro has lived in London, Milan and Madrid where he has established a local office and teams, while building client relationships derived from managing more than 500 new projects across multiple sectors.

Alvaro, a Spanish native, is fluent in English, Italian and Catalan. While not in the office or traveling, Alvaro continues to hopelessly try to improve his golf game.

Sebastian Montoya Molina
Supporting Alvaro in Iberia

Sebastian Montoya-Molina joined Merrill Corporation in November 2015 as Account Manager. He is responsible for supporting Merrill’s southern European Director with the company’s expansion plan into Iberia. 

Prior to joining Merrill, Sebastian was helping hedge funds and traditional asset managers to access experts and proprietary research in order to take complex investment decisions.

Sebastian was raised in South America, spent 8 years in London and graduated with a BSc in Business Management from King’s College London. Seb relocated to Merrill in Madrid just three months ago, after working in the London offices for one year.

Sebastian is bilingual in Spanish and English.
