Sr. UNIX Administrator

Status: Full Time
Shift: 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. ( M-F)
Location: MN-St. Paul

Responsibilities

Completes work on major, more complex IT architecture projects with full competency. Applies hardware engineering and software design theories and principles in researching, designing and developing product hardware and software interfaces. Provides integrated systems planning and recommends innovative technologies that will enhance the current systems. Recommends appropriate desktop, computer platform and communication links required to support IT goals and strategy. May coordinate the activities of the project team and assist in monitoring project schedule and costs.

Qualifications

Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision. This fully competent professional level may be assisted by lower level personnel. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of moderately difficult assignments. Works under minimal supervision. Knowledge, skills and abilities required: • Excellent customer service and communication skills • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • 5+ years experience supporting Solaris 2.x Operating Systems/Solaris 10 • 2+ years experience supporting Linux (Red Hat preferred) • Familiarity with Sun and HP Intel server hardware • Experience with Veritas Volume Manager, Filesystem, and Cluster Server • Proficient shell programming/scripting experience • Experience using server deployment tools such as Jumpstart and Kickstart • Solid Networking knowledge and experience • Proven experience with DNS • 2+ years experience supporting Apache, Tomcat, and RedDot Other Skills desired: • Sun Solaris containers experience a plus • 2+ years experience supporting HP-UX • Experience with Unix LDAP • Database experience (Oracle) • Veritas NetBackup a plus • Knowledge of complex networking server environments • Unix certifications a plus • The following Microsoft experience is valued but not mandatory: • Experience administrating Active Directory • Experience with VMWare

Bachelors degree. Minimum 4-5 years professional information technology experience.
