Accounting Manager

Status: Full Time
Shift: 1st shift ( M-F)
Location: MN-St. Paul

Responsibilities

The general accounting manager is responsible for overseeing the recording of transactions for the combined Merrill businesses formerly referred to as corporate, TCS and LS. Specific responsibilities include preparing and reviewing reconciliations, Oracle general ledger super-user, managing staff of approximately of 5, supporting the accounting and reporting requirements of the company, providing analysis and supporting requests from internal and external auditors. Qualified candidates will need strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and will have a strong desire and ability to embrace change and implement continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

Monthly responsibilities: •Review reconciliations and propose timely adjustments •Review all accounts for accuracy and ensure that transactions are properly recorded. Ensure timing and classification of entries is proper. •Manage and support process improvement initiatives •Accounting for income taxes Accounting responsibilities: •Review and approval of journal entries •Help to shorten the close cycle to meet needs of a public corporation •Ongoing process improvement •Support large projects including deployment and roll out of ERP systems •Ensure that corporate policies and procedures are consistently applied Supervision responsibilities: •General ledger accounting •Corporate accounting •As Oracle GL super-user the general accounting manager plays a critical role in problem solving and process improvement initiatives. Qualifications and Strategic requirements: •Strong technical skills along with strong written and oral communication skills •Must embrace change •High level of integrity and trust •Successful candidate will have vision and ability to identify and implement opportunities for improvement •Dedication to needs of the total organization •Self motivating and ability to motivate others

•CMA or CPA certification preferred •At least 5 years relevant experience •Previous Oracle and/or relevant experience with other global ERP systems •Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access)
